Despite the fact that states are reopening and restrictions are being lifted, many of us are still spending the majority of our time at home. We’re all adjusting to the post-quarantine transition phase and are still taking precautionary measures to avoid COVID-19 exposure. And now that we are still spending a lot of time at home, we may notice some parts of our homes need renovating or perhaps you’re interested in re-decorating your home and doing a home project, as a way to stay productive during these unprecedented times. Maybe you’ve spotted some water damage on your kitchen floor; right now would be the perfect time to replace your flooring! You could easily upgrade your decor and furniture with DIY projects; however, leave it to licensed professionals like Yalla Construction for major remodeling projects. It’s unnecessary to fret about fixing substantial repairs yourself, Yalla Construction specializes in flooring and we could help you achieve that house interior look you’ve been envisioning. If you’ve been considering replacing your floors, get in touch with us! Below are photos of clients’ floor plans we’ve transformed.

If you’re trying to make your room appear more spacious, maybe consider changing your floor. With the right type of flooring, it can give the illusion of a larger space! Keep in mind that it may be a good idea to pick light and dark colors when it comes to flooring. Light neutral floors can draw more sunlight in your home and can allow the room to appear more open. Whereas, a rich dark color would be a strong choice for wood flooring as it can create a more inviting space. Another great rule of thumb is to try to use the same flooring throughout your house (excluding your bathrooms). By using the same flooring, it provides a seamless flow for the common areas of your home, including your living room, dining room, and kitchen. Not only would it make your house look more vast, using the same floors looks more effortless. Parallel or diagonal flooring could also elongate your room!

In addition to that, here are a few additional tips to make your home look cozier while you’re isolated at home:

  1. Decorate your Indoor or Outdoor Area with String Lights

String lights are quite versatile as there are several ways to decorate with string lights including draping your string lights in front of your bed with photo displays and using jars to make fairy lights. Hanging string lights around your backyard could also create a more romantic ambiance. Globe/string lights are available for purchase at Home Depot, Crate and Barrel, Amazon, and Urban Outfitters.

  1. Bring Your Greenery Indoors – House Plants

Not only would interior plants be a great addition to your house space decor, but they also offer many benefits, which include purifying air and reducing carbon dioxide levels (making it easier to breathe). By having indoor plants to nurture, it’s a fun project to get yourself involved in.

  1. DIY Floating Storage Shelves

By adding shelves on your wall, you’re able to gain more space for house plants, frames, candles, books, etc. A blank area of a wall is the most ideal place to put storage shelves.
